About the TimCard

The TimCard is Tim Hortons' branded gift card / reloadable card. It works at participating Tim Hortons locations across Canada (and many in the United States) for any menu item — coffee, tea, baked goods, sandwiches, or anything else on the board. Unlike one-time gift cards, the TimCard can be reloaded with more funds in-store or through the Tim Hortons app, so a recipient can keep using the same card indefinitely.

Where to buy

  • At any participating Tim Hortons location.
  • Online at timhortons.ca/gift-cards (physical and digital eGifts).
  • Through the Tim Hortons mobile app (digital cards).

How to check your TimCard balance

Use the official Tim Hortons site at timhortons.ca/gift-cards. The simplest options:

  1. In the Tim Hortons app — sign in, register your card, and the current balance is visible on the home screen.
  2. On the website — use the gift-card balance lookup form on the official page.
  3. At any Tim Hortons — ask a team member to check the balance during your order.
Stay safe: Only enter card details on timhortons.ca or in the official Tim Hortons app. Phishing copies of coffee-chain balance pages do exist.

Using and reloading

To use the card, hand it to the cashier (or scan the digital code in the app) before paying. The amount is deducted from the card balance, and any remainder can be paid with another method. To reload, you can add funds in-store or through the app — credit or debit cards can be linked for one-tap reloads.

Common questions

Does the TimCard expire?

The TimCard balance does not expire under Canadian gift-card law, but check current terms on the issuer's site. Inactive cards may have a small administrative process to verify before reuse.

Can I use it in the U.S.?

Many U.S. Tim Hortons locations accept the card, but availability varies — confirm at the specific location before relying on it.

What if I lose the card?

If the card is registered (in the app or on the website), Tim Hortons can usually transfer the remaining balance to a replacement. If unregistered, recovery is unlikely — register cards as soon as you receive them.
