About Steam gift cards
Steam is Valve's PC gaming platform — the largest distributor of PC games and the de facto standard for PC gaming worldwide. A Steam gift card is technically a "Steam Wallet code" that adds Canadian dollars to the Steam Wallet of whoever redeems it. The wallet balance can then be used for any purchase on the Steam store: games, DLC, in-game items, software, or hardware.
Steam Wallet is region-locked: a card purchased in Canada credits the Steam Wallet in CAD, which buys items at Steam's Canadian-dollar prices.

- Major Canadian retailers — most grocery, pharmacy, and convenience-store gift-card racks carry physical Steam Wallet cards.
- Best Buy Canada and similar electronics stores — a strong selection of denominations.
Common denominations in Canada: $20, $50, $100. Larger amounts can be loaded by purchasing multiple cards.
How to redeem and check balance
- Sign in to Steam (in the desktop client or at store.steampowered.com).
- Click your username in the top right and choose Account details.
- Click Redeem a Steam Wallet Code and enter the code from the back of the card (under the scratch-off panel).
- The balance is added to your Steam Wallet immediately. The current balance shows on your account details page and during checkout.
Once redeemed, the balance is part of your Steam account and cannot be transferred to another account.
Using your Steam Wallet balance
At Steam checkout, your wallet balance is automatically applied first. Anything above the wallet balance can be paid with credit card, PayPal, or another supported payment method. There's no PIN to enter — once it's in the wallet, it's just account credit.
Common questions
Does the Steam Wallet balance expire?
No — under Canadian provincial law, gift card balances generally don't expire. Steam Wallet balance remains in your account until used.
Can I get a refund of unused Steam Wallet balance?
Generally no. Steam Wallet credit is non-refundable once redeemed. Refunds for individual game purchases are returned to the wallet, not to your original payment method.
Can I use it on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo?
No. Steam is exclusively Valve's PC platform. For console gaming, you need PlayStation Network, Xbox, or Nintendo eShop gift cards instead.
