About the Spotify gift card
Spotify gift cards add prepaid Premium subscription time to a Spotify account. Common denominations in Canada include $10, $30, $60, and $99 — corresponding roughly to one, three, six, or twelve months of Premium Individual.
Spotify gift cards work for the Premium Individual plan. They generally don't work for Family, Duo, or Student plans, which require active credit card billing.
Where to buy
- Major Canadian retailers — most grocery, pharmacy, and big-box gift-card racks carry Spotify cards.
- Best Buy Canada — both physical and eGift options.
- Through Spotify directly — they sometimes offer eGift codes via spotify.com.
Spotify gift cards are region-locked — Canadian cards work for Canadian Spotify accounts only.
How to redeem
- Open spotify.com/redeem in a browser.
- Sign in to the Spotify account that should receive the Premium time.
- Scratch off the panel on the back of the card to reveal the PIN.
- Enter the PIN and click Redeem.
The Premium time is added to the account immediately. If the account already has an active subscription, the gift card extends it; if the account is on the free tier, Premium activates right away.
Common questions
Can I check the balance on a Spotify gift card?
Spotify gift cards are subscription-time codes, not stored-value cards — there's no "balance" to check separately. Once redeemed, the time is just part of the account's subscription expiry.
Can I use Spotify gift cards on Family or Student plans?
Generally no — Family, Duo, and Student plans require active credit-card billing for verification. Premium Individual is the supported plan for gift card redemption.
What if my account is already on a Family plan?
You may need to cancel the Family billing first, then redeem the gift card to switch to Individual. Check Spotify's help center for the current procedure.
Can I gift the card to someone with a different country's Spotify account?
No. Spotify gift cards are region-locked. A Canadian gift card cannot be redeemed on a Spotify account registered in another country.
Always verify on spotify.com for current terms and supported plans.
